Marvel, experience, explore! The Kunsthaus Zürich is transforming its public spaces into spectacular stages, showcasing monumental sculptures and immersive installations by leading contemporary artists. Getting things off to a flying start in 2025 is a breathtaking sculpture by the renowned artist Monster Chetwynd in the garden of art, while the Haefner entrance hall will come alive with a striking installation by Jeffrey Gibson.

These extraordinary projects are made possible through private donations. You can be part of it, too – your support for the Gateway Fund helps bring unforgettable, free art experiences to Zurich. Thank you for making art accessible to all!

The Haefner entrance hall and the garden of art – public spaces to encounter outstanding contemporary art

Architect Sir David Chipperfield designed both the monumental entrance hall and the garden of art as inviting public spaces where everyone can encounter outstanding art. Artists from around the world are invited to take up temporary residence at the Kunsthaus, presenting diverse cultural influences and perspectives through their work. These free exhibits will be open to all, and will be presented for a period of between six months and two years.

Monster Chetwynd

Renowned artist Monster Chetwynd (*1973) embraces improvisation and creates space for spontaneous, authentic moments. Her unique blend of performance, sculpture, and painting gives rise to immersive worlds where art history, pop culture, and humor merge.

Alongside her exhibition at Kunsthaus Zürich, the artist is creating a monumental commission for the garden of art. Opening in summer 2025, the sculpture draws on the tradition of the 'folly' – a playful garden structure that captivates with its apparent uselessness. Yet it is more than a visual attraction: inside, an enormous climbing structure invites visitors to explore and play.

This exceptional commission is made possible thanks to donors to the Gateway Fund and generous contributions from the Hans Imholz Foundation and the Tarbaca Indigo Foundation.

Jeffrey Gibson-1

Jeffrey Gibson

For over two decades, Jeffrey Gibson has blended Indigenous and Western influences into a vibrant, distinctive aesthetic.

Following his acclaimed contribution to the U.S. Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale, Gibson is now creating his first presentation in a continental European museum – a site-specific installation for the Foyer Haefner in the Chipperfield building.

This immersive environment brings together painting, sculpture, silkscreen, beadwork, ceramics, and textiles in a multilayered arrangement of objects. The installation, on view from June 2025, is made possible thanks to the generous support of a Zurich-based cultural foundation. Donors to the Gateway Fund support the diverse accompanying program that enriches this colourful and unique commissioned work.

By donating to the Gateway Fund, you play a vital role in bringing unique art installations to the city of Zurich and creating unforgettable experiences.
