Matthew Wong - Vincent van Gogh. Painting as a Last Resort

The ideal introduction to the exhibition
Guided Tour

The exhibition is characterised by the stylistic and biographical parallels between Matthew Wong and Vincent van Gogh. First time to be seen in Switzerland, paintings and drawings by Wong take centre stage and furthermore, will be complemented by a group of selected masterpieces of Van Gogh.

With his impressive landscape paintings, the Canadian painter and draughtsman Matthew Wong (1984 - 2019), who died young, became a phenomenon shortly before his death. Landscape depictions of expressive, lyrical power form the focus of Wong's work. The artist was particularly influenced by Vincent van Gogh (1853 - 1890). This applies not only to his influence on Wong's painting style and motifs, but also to certain elements of his life story. Experience the dialogue between the two artists in a public guided tour.
