Art, Context, War and Conflict
Visite guidée

Would you like an introduction to the new presentation of the Bührle Collection? In our guided tour you will learn about the artworks, the collection and the provenance of individual paintings.

Weapons manufacturer and art enthusiast Emil Bührle assembled a large collection of Masterpieces during his lifetime. When this collection was given a home in the new Kunsthaus building in 2021, it led to fierce public debates that continue to this day. Now, the new presentation shows the collection in the historical context of its origins, it highlights the strong connection between the Zürcher Kunstgesellschaft and Emil Bührle, and it tells the backstories (provenance) of artworks that used to belong to Jewish collectors who were victims of Nazi persecution.
